I spent last night, just watchin' the sun go down, Staring south as the streetlights lit up this "one-horse town", And I thought of all the things that had gone on in my life, and those that're going on now, How love sometimes stings, why I've never had a wife, but I still make it through somehow;
I thought about the guys in the band, how they're always waitin' for me, And the sound of clapping hands, and 3-part harmony, All the sweat & blood & tears, and hotel souvenirs, and every broken guitar string, Friends and lovers lost, and all this life has cost, and all I could do was sing;
Sing about the good times that we've had, even when the good times turned out bad, Sing about the one's who've gone away, sing all night & sing all day, Sing about the hardships that you face, always comin' in second place, Sing about happiness & pain, sing for the sun and for the rain, Sing for your friends & family, sing for everyone you see, Sing for the young & for the old, sing no matter what you're told, Sing about everything... just sing.
Took a loan out on my car, just to buy a new guitar, Seems no matter which I choose, neither one gets me very far. Seems there's always one more thing, to keep my dreams from happening, But I don't care just as long as I can sing.
Sing about the good times that we've had, even when the good times turned out bad, Sing about the one's who've gone away, sing all night & sing all day, Sing about the hardships that you face, always comin' in second place, Sing about happiness & pain, sing for the sun and for the rain, Sing for your friends & family, sing for everyone you see, Sing for the young & for the old, sing no matter what you're told, Sing about everything... just sing. |
